On National Farmer’s Market Week, Representative Meier reflected on a significant piece of legislation he passed in Springfield, known as the Cupcake Bill. This bill prevented the health department from closing down home-based kitchen operations, which include many participants in local farmer’s markets.
"On National Farmer’s Market Week, I’m reminded of one of the first pieces of legislation I passed in Springfield – the Cupcake Bill! This bill stopped the health department from shutting down home-based kitchen operations, like many who participate in our local Farmer’s Markets," Meier stated.
He encouraged residents to support local farmers during this week by visiting farmer’s markets in Troy, Highland, Nashville, or Greenville. "Whether you’re in Troy, Highland, Nashville or Greenville get out and support local farmers this week during National Farmer’s Market Week!" he added.
