Today, House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost expressed his views following the announcement by Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Secretary Doug Collins regarding a significant workforce reduction. The VA plans to dismiss over 1,000 employees as part of an effort to reorganize and improve efficiency within the agency.

Chairman Bost stated, “I trust that my friend Secretary Collins is doing the right thing for veterans and taxpayers to effectively right size and reorganize the agency to work better for the men and women it serves. As Chairman, that is my number one priority.” He emphasized his belief in Secretary Collins' assurance that this plan will not affect the delivery of care, benefits, and services for veterans.

Bost also highlighted his intention to collaborate with the Trump administration to ensure that improvements at the VA continue with a focus on placing veterans at the forefront of its operations. “I am looking forward to working with the Trump administration to continue to make necessary improvements and efficiencies at VA to put veterans at the center of everything VA does,” he added.
