City of Belleville Historic Preservation Commission met Feb. 27

CALL TO ORDER 

Ms. Dixon called the meeting to order at 7:02 PM. 

Emergency Procedures were given. 

PUBLIC PARTICIPATION: 

Tyler Beaston of 208 Lawrence Court described his project located on a corner lot. Photos were presented. In attendance with Mr. Beaston was Brooke Johnson. 

DESIGN REVIEW REQUEST(S): 

1. 500 Abend St., Owned by Tyler Beaston 

a. Mr. Beaston described the unforeseen condition of the roof and box gutters, where there was 

significant water damage and dry rot to the ceiling joists and roof framing. Some places had to be completely replaced. Much of the areas below the box gutters needed to be reframed and exterior fascia boards and moldings had to be removed as they were also in disrepair. 

b. Mr. Beaston proposed to install new gutters, possibly a 6”, in place of the box gutter to match the front. 

c. Ms. Hund suggested a piece of crown with flashing below a 5" gutter above the bay window would be more representative of the current look. 

d. Mr. Breitwieser asked about views from the street and it was noted most sides of the house can be viewed from the street due to its location on a corner lot. The board suggested the crown be done below all gutters, 2" minimum in height. 

Ms. Dixon - Motioned to approve a 5" gutter with crown below on all new gutters. 

Mr. Breitwieser - Seconded. 

Unanimous approval.

Motion carried unanimously.
