Rep. Mike Bost, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 12th district, has shared updates on various initiatives and achievements via social media. His posts highlight notable accomplishments within his constituency and his legislative efforts.

On June 19, 2025, Rep. Bost announced that "Connor Gerrish from Wayne City is the recipient of this year’s Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest honor bestowed by Congress to young Americans." He commended Connor for being "a shining example of what hard work and initiative can achieve," mentioning his volunteering efforts at local shelters.

The following day, June 20, 2025, Bost emphasized the importance of protecting local employment in Southern Illinois. He stated that "Protecting the livelihoods of the 34,000 hardworking Southern Illinoisans employed across 635 manufacturing plants in our district is a no-brainer." He expressed support for President Trump's One Big, Beautiful Bill passed in the House to preserve manufacturing jobs.

On June 21, 2025, Rep. Bost acknowledged National Dairy Month in a post recognizing dairy farmers. He wrote that "June is National Dairy Month, a tradition that began in 1939 to recognize the farmers who keep fresh milk, cheese, and other dairy products on our tables." He noted that Southern Illinois hosts more than 200 dairy farms contributing significantly to state production.

Mike Bost has served in Congress since replacing Gerald Hawkins in 2015. Before his congressional role, he was part of the Illinois House of Representatives and Jackson County Board. Born in Murphysboro in 1960 and a graduate from the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy in 1993, he continues to reside there.
