Madison County's coroner reveals that 47 heroin-related deaths occurred in 2015.
In a recent Public Safety Committee meeting in Madison County, Illinois, the county coroner noted that 47 heroin-related deaths occurred in 2015, the highest of any drug in the county.
The meeting opened with U.S. Attorney Steve Wiggington presenting an award to Kelly Rogers, chief investigator for the coroner’s office, for his dedication to the Heroin Task Force.
The committee also discussed questions and concerns relating to rabies vaccination revenues over the years. Additionally, it approved two resolutions from the sheriff’s office: one for the purchase of five Motorola mobile radios and one for 10 2016 Police Interceptor Utility Vehicles.
Also of note at the meeting was the license investigator’s announcement that there had been no violations that month. Emergency Management noted that it had received a $10,000 grant to conduct a hazardous chemical study.
