The Alton Committee of the Whole recently held a regular meeting to discuss a host of pressing resolutions for the city.
Resolutions included one involving the Discount and Special Bills paid as listed in the Comptroller’s Report, which was approved. Also included was one authorizing the execution of a lease between the Union Pacific Railroad Company and the City of Alton for the construction of a passenger-boarding platform at the Alton Regional Multimodal Transportation Center, which was also approved.
A third resolution dealt with the committee’s support of the efforts by the fire chief to pursue 29 self-contained breathing apparatuses. The devices cost $236,175. This resolution was approved, as well.
Committee members present at the meeting included members Brake, Boulds, Ryan, MacAfee, Velloff and Martin. Also in attendance were Mayor Walker; Comptroller Cowan, City Treasurer Roth; Wastewater Treatment Operations Supervisor Gibson; Director of Development and Housing Caffey; Director of Public Works Barnhart; Police Chief Simmons; Fire Chief Sebold; Director of Park & Recreation Haynes; Personnel Director Scoggins; City Council Coordinator Clark; Asst. Corporation Counselor Williams; and Corporation Counselor Schrempf.
