Granite City Finance Committee meets to approve motions

Members of the Granite City Finance Committee met Tuesday, Aug. 16.

"The members of each committee are designated by the City Council at large, and the Chairman for each committee is selected by the Mayor from the five members which are designated for each respective committee"

ATTENDANCE:

Ron Simpson, Chairman Paul Jackstadt

Dan McDowell Tim Elliott

Brian Konzen Mayor Ed Hagnauer

Judy Whitaker, City Clerk Don Thompson

Alderman Simpson called the meeting to order.

First on the Agenda is US Steel.

US Steel is requesting a Tax Reduction. The current TIF Agreement with them expires in 2018. The Mayor wants to extend the Agreement another year. Mayor is negotiating an agreement to try to get Steel Workers back to work along with the School District.

MOTION By McDowell, second by Simpson to allow the Mayor and his staff to negotiate this TIF Agreement as soon as possible. ALL VOTED YES.

Motion carried.

ALDERMAN Simpson began discussion regarding Elected Officials Salaries, for the next four years. This includes the Mayor, City Clerk, Treasurer, Township Supervisor, Township Assessor, Township Board and Township Clerk.

MOTION By McDowell, second by Simpson to go into closed session to discuss salaries. ALL VOTED YES. Motion carried.

MOTION By Simpson, second by McDowell to return to regular session.

ALL VOTED YES. Motion carried.

MOTION By Simpson, second Pickerell to raise the Mayor, City Clerk and Treasurers salaries $2000.00 per year. ALL Voted yes except, McDowell voted no. Motion carried.

MOTION By Simpson, second by Williams to keep salaries of the Township Supervisor, Assessor, Board Members and Clerk the same. ALL VOTED

YES. Motion carried.

MOTION By Simpson, second by Jackstadt to adjourn.
