The St. Clair County Freedom Coalition wants to take the power out of the hands of the privileged and put it where it belongs: with the people, according to a recent Facebook post.
“The vast majority of our political leaders are more interested in protecting their power and privilege than doing what’s right,” the group wrote. “It’s time friends, to bring government back to the people. The only way to fix Illinois, heal St. Clair County, and create good jobs, better schools, safer areas and greater opportunities for those that live here, is for our local and state government to govern with the consent of the people. The crony capitalism and corruption must end.”
The group contended that it has been attacked by those who have hoarded power and encouraged St. Clair County residents to always vote for the person, not the party.
“The Coalition is not a club nor is it a party,” the group posted. “It’s a strong civic movement that brings Republicans, Democrats, Independents, people of all different races, rich or poor standing strong together. We have all come together to organize a movement. A movement for taking our government back – with people who's core values are a strong belief that government needs to be transparent and accountable to the people. We operate on the premise that the government works for the people.”
