Analysis: Alton pays $7.31 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Alton Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.9 percent of the $3,531,426 the Alton Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $7.31 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Alton contributed $3,069,684 to the fund, which saw a $737,166 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $419,745, or 11.9 percent, in 2016. Another $41,997 came from other unspecified sources.
