Analysis: Belleville pays $6.70 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Belleville Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 87 percent of the $3,255,315 the Belleville Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.70 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Belleville contributed $2,832,970 to the fund, which saw a $225,649 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $422,345, or 13 percent, in 2016.
