Analysis: Wood River pays $4.70 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Wood River Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 82.5 percent of the $361,054 the Wood River Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $4.70 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Wood River contributed $297,756 to the fund, which saw a $8,656 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $63,298, or 17.5 percent, in 2016.
