Madison City Council met April 17.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

The City Council meeting was called to order by Mayor Hamm at 6:30 p.m.

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Followed by a request for roll call. Present were Alderpersons Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Foley, Riskovsky and Haynes. Absent: Alderman Gardner.

It in absence of Mayor Hamm, it was moved by Alderman Bridick, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky to seat Alderman Michael Vrabec as Mayor Pro-Tem. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Bridick, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on April 3, 2018. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Foley, seconded by Alderman Hampsey, to approve the presentation of Claims. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Foley that bills be allowed as drawn on the treasury, unless there are any questions of the Comptroller, seconded by Alderman Bridick to approve Claims as presented in the amount of $244,038.01 for the period covering 04/04/2018 thru 04/17/2018. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Foley, Riskovsky and Haynes. Nays: None. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Foley that the Comptroller's report for April 4, 2018 through April 17, 2018 be accepted and placed on file unless there are questions for the Comptroller, seconded by Alderman Bridick, to approve the Comptroller's Report as presented. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Bridick, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to accept the resignation of Alex Hamm, with regrets, and the appointment of Sue Beatte as the Data Entry Clerk replacement. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Foley, Riskovsky and Haynes. Nays: None. Absent: One. Motion carried.

Building Inspector Broadway replaced that the City had planted 25 trees and 15 bushes over the past week and that further work will be done in the upcoming weeks. Police Chief Burns reported that the Community Clean Up Project will be located at 1528 3rd Street, Saturday, April 21, 2018, 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and is for Madison residents only. There being no other reports, it was moved by Alderman Haynes, seconded by Alderman Bridick, to approve the reports of the Department Officers. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

It was moved by Alderman Foley, seconded by Alderman Bridick, to approve the Grand Avenue Engineering Agreement using MFT Funds. Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Foley, Riskovsky and Haynes. Nays: None. Absent: One. Motion carried.

There was no attorney presentation of Petitions, Resolutions and Ordinances and no attorney report due to the absence of Attorney Papa.

It was moved by Alderman Hampsey, seconded by Alderman Bridick, to approve Resolution #18-23, a “Resolution for 2018 MFT Funds for Engineering for ICC Grand Avenue/NSRR Crossing Improvements." Roll call vote as follows: Ayes: Jenkins, Bridick, Vrabec, Hampsey, Foley, Riskovsky and Haynes. Nays: None. Absent: One. Motion carried.

There was no executive session.

There being no other business to be brought before the Council, it moved by Alderman Haynes, seconded by Alderman Riskovsky, to adjourn the meeting at 6:45 p.m. Voice vote as follows: seven (7) ayes; no nays. Absent: One. Motion carried.

The next council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Madison City Hall.
