Alton Historical Commission met May 15.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Members Present: Doug Bader, Mary Anderson, Deanna Barnes, Chase Green, Monica Mason, Diane Plummer, Charlene Walker

Others Present: Annette Williams, Jake Hagen, Gerald Mozur, Eric Stauffer, Douglas Kellum, Sherryl Kellum, Grant Harner, Becky Brunaugh, Secretary

The meeting of the Alton Historic Commission was called to order by Chairman Doug Bader at 7:00 p.m. on May 15, 2018.

The commissioners welcomed Deanna Barnes as the newest member of the Historic Commission.

Mary Anderson made a motion to approve the minutes from May 1, 2018. Diane Plummer seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Applications:

Annette Williams with Morningstar Missionary Church presented the application for 1 E. 6th St. She is proposing to replace the slate roof with Colonial Slate architectural shingles.

Monica Mason made a motion to approve the application as presented. Mary Anderson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Jake Hagen with Pella Windows & Doors presented the application for 1500 Henry St. He is proposing replacing 25 vinyl windows with wood windows, no grills, sizes to remain the same.

Monica Mason made a motion to approve the application as presented. Chase Green seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

No one was present to present the application for 548 E. 9th St. The commission decided to vote on the application in their absence for new basement windows.

Mary Anderson made a motion to accept the application. Charlene Walker seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Gerald Mozur and Eric Stauffer presented the application for 514 E. 11th St. They are proposing new box gutters and rebuilding the soffit, fascia and crown molding; and five new vinyl windows on the sides and rear of the home.

Diane Plummer made a motion to accept the application. Chase Green seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Doug Kellum presented two applications for 649 E. 5th St. His first proposal is for a 6’ wood dog-ear privacy fence to surround 649 E. 5th and 412-424 Ridge St. This would be pending approval from Building & Zoning on height restrictions.

Monica Mason made a motion to accept the application as presented. Mary Anderson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

The second proposal for 649 E. 5th St. He is proposing new siding with 7” reveal and a 6’ wrap around front porch where the current carport is.

Monica Mason made a motion to accept the application as presented. Chase Green seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Grant Harner presented the application for 704 Euclid. New siding had been installed prior to obtaining a building permit or Historic Commission approval.

Diane Plummer made a motion to approve the application as presented. Charlene Walker seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Other Business:

The commission reviewed the preliminary CLG report. Chase Green made a motion to accept the report as presented. Monica Mason seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

There being no further discussion or comment from the public, the meeting was adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
