According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 2,791 students during the year. That equates to 82.8 percent of the 3,371 students enrolled.
Students were expelled for five incidents with unspecified reasons, one incident with violence that caused physical injury, one incident with violence without physical injury, one incident with a dangerous firearm weapon and one incident with a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm.
Of the 2,782 out-of-school suspensions, 1,850 were given to boys and 932 were given to girls, including 1,776 elementary or middle schoolers and 1,006 high schoolers.
The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 1,877 incidents. There were 796 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 1,560 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
