Report: Bethalto spent $9,185 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Bethalto Community Unit School District 8 is down 4.4 percent from five years ago, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Madison County school district spent $9,608 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $9,185 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 2591 to 2476.

Bethalto's spending in 2017-18 was 31.1 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
