HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital issued the following announcement on July 3.
The community is invited to a “Know Your Medicare Benefits” seminar on Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m. in the Sullivan Room at HSHS St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland. A State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) counselor will be onsite conducting this free seminar to provide education on Medicare.
SHIP counselors are trained through the Illinois Department on Aging to provide free education about Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans and prescription drug coverage.
“We are excited to host this free seminar to assist those in our community who may be new to Medicare or have questions around their current Medicare benefits,” said Barb Strieker, community benefit & outreach facilitator at St. Joseph’s Hospital Breese and Highland and Holy Family Hospital Greenville. “By hosting this event, we hope community members will have a better understanding of their benefit coverage and feel comfortable making health care decisions.”
If you are interested in learning more about Medicare, but cannot attend the seminar, St. Joseph’s Hospital Highland has a SHIP counselor onsite the second Friday of each month to answer questions about Medicare. You can schedule an appointment by calling (618) 344-7788.
