2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in zip code 62201?

There were 36 offenders released on parole during 2018 that live near Illinois zip code 62201, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Metro East Sun.

The data shows that 34 men and two women were released in the East Saint Louis zip code. Of the parolees, three were veterans, and the median age was 37. The youngest parolee was a 22-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 62-year-old man convicted of a property crime in 2017.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Julius Phillips. He was convicted of homicide in 1994, when he was 23 years old. He is now 48.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
