Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 issued the following announcement on Nov. 25.
Collinsville High School students Andrew Hylton and Gage Terveer are participating in Illinois State Senator Jason Plummer’s first-ever Youth Advisory Council during the 2019/2020 school year.
The Youth Advisory Council consists of two students per high school within Senator Plummer’s District. The students will meet with Senator Plummer and his staff two times this school year.
They recently met at Kaskaskia College to hear presentations from community leaders and to discuss issues important to today’s youth. The group will convene once again in Spring 2020 in Springfield to experience the legislative process.
The idea behind the initiative is to engage students who are interested in careers in public service to connect with elected officials and other leaders to learn about the legislative process.
