O'FALLON COMMUNITY CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT 90: January Teacher of the Month

Honor roll 01

O'Fallon Community Consolidated School District 90 recently issued the following announcement.

Congratulations to our January Teacher of the Month, Nicole Green, Carriel Interventionist! This month's awards are sponsored by CASI, Counseling Associates of Southern Illinois.

Mrs. Nicole Green has established an excellent intervention program for Carriel that maximizes resources to best support students. She demonstrates the utmost flexibility when working with multiple staff members and students always placing the students’ needs first. Whether pushing into the ELA or math classrooms or working with small groups of students during the elective/intervention time, she is determined to find the best strategies to assist our students. With the implementation of the new MAP Assessment last year, Mrs. Green has worked tirelessly to learn the new system and help students and staff with the process. She is a caring and compassionate teacher who is always willing to give of her time whether it is in the classroom or beyond. She serves as a cross country coach and has taken on the role of PBIS Tier 2 Co-Coach this year. As a Tier 2 Coach, Mrs. Green leads the team to develop intervention strategies that help support students who may be struggling both behaviorally as well as academically. In addition to the positive daily interactions she has with the Tier 2 students, she works hard to analyze and prepare data for the team to use in decision making. She is currently thinking through the logistics of an after school program that could be used to connect with some of the most challenging students. Her dedication is certainly top notch and a huge asset to Carriel. This dedication goes beyond just the students and school however. Each year Carriel is very proud to host a Veterans Day program to recognize our community heroes. As a Veteran herself, Mrs. Green's passion and commitment are evident as she plans and prepares an extra-special experience not only for the Veterans, but an educational experience for students as well. Beyond school, she is active as a Boy Scout leader and has volunteered her time for the last two years to develop a study skills class for future O’Fallon Police candidates. Mrs. Green provided potential candidates with valuable insight regarding reading comprehension strategies for test taking in an effort to help boost the scores on the written police test. As you can see, Mrs. Green is truly a wonderful member of the Carriel family and our community!

We thank Counseling Associates of Southern Illinois for their generous support of this month's staff awards!
