Analysis: Granite City pays $27.55 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Granite City Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 96.5 percent of the $11,296,877 the Granite City Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $27.55 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Granite City contributed $10,901,273 to the fund, which saw a $9,571,255 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $395,548, or 3.5 percent, in 2018. Another $56 came from other unspecified sources.
