Analysis: Alton pays $6.71 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Alton Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 87 percent of the $3,449,541 the Alton Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $6.71 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Metro East Sun analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Alton contributed $3,002,272 to the fund, which saw a $105,649 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $447,269, or 13 percent, in 2018.
