Incumbent Charlie Meier wins reelection bid, thanks voters

Republican Charlie Meier has won his reelection bid for District 108 fending off competition from Democrat Kacie Weicherding.

Meier expressed his gratitude to voters for their support through social media.

“I am honored and humbled to continue to represent the 108th District in the Illinois House of Representatives,” wrote Meier.

I promise to continue to fight for Southern Illinois and will do all I can represent your values and beliefs.  Also Thank You to everyone who worked on my campaign.  I can not do this alone and I value everyone who helped to be me get reelected,” he added.

Meier was vying for the House seat.

Weicherding conceded defeat.

“I want to thank everyone who supported me for the past 17 months. I'm privileged to have met so many wonderful people during this race. We came up short, but there's still tons of work to do!,” wrote Weicherding.
