State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) is urging lawmakers in Springfield to work together to make the best use of all the federal dollars heading the state’s way.
Illinois in on tap to receive in the neighborhood of $7.5 billion from $1.9 stimulus relief plan recently signed into law by President Joe Biden.
Davidsmeyer argues a good place to start when it comes to making use of the windfall would be truly balancing the budget Gov. J.B. Pritzker has put in place.
“I think we need to get together, be transparent and work together to pass a truly balanced budget that doesn’t use the federal dollars to fill holes but to get us out of the hole,” Davidsmeyer said in a video posted to YouTube. “I think some of my democratic colleagues have even said that we need to come together to discuss how the federal dollars are going to be spent.”
