State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) recently embarked on a tour of the Orr Center with U.S. Congressman Darin LaHood (R-Peoria) where the two were able to talk shop.

“We are blessed to have such great people working, teaching and researching all things agriculture,” Davidsmeyer later posted to Facebook.

The last few weeks have been a busy time for the veteran lawmaker, who has now served as the face of District 100 since 2012.

With the state of Illinois poised to reap billions from the recently federal stimulus plan, Davidsmeyer is already imploring state leaders to do the right thing by the cash-strapped state with the newfound windfall.

“Illinois voters rejected Gov. Pritzker’s progressive tax in November because they want Illinois to learn to live within its means,” Davidsmeyer said in a post to his website. “Voters sent both Republicans and Democrats to Springfield to make tough decisions and to get Illinois back on track with a truly balanced budget. Bipartisan balanced budgets have passed the General Assembly when Republicans have been included in the negotiating process. It is time for both sides to come together to have legitimate talks on the future of our state, one of the biggest parts of which is paying our bills and passing a truly balanced budget.”
