McKendree University issued the following announcement on Nov. 11
The students of McKendree University’s Division of Visual and Performing Arts will be performing in three upcoming concerts at Bothwell Chapel and the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts on campus. All are open to the public and admission is free. In accordance with current COVID-19 safety protocols, masks are required for all audience members.
Thursday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m.: A saxophone studio recital will be taking place at Bothwell Chapel.
Wednesday, Dec. 1, 7:30 p.m.: The McKendree University Percussion Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble will perform a joint concert in the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts.
Friday, Dec. 3, 7:30 p.m.: McKendree University’s Division of Visual and Performing Arts presents A McKendree Christmas!, which features holiday favorites the whole family will enjoy. The wind ensemble will perform “Holiday Portraits” by Sean O’Loughin and “The Bells of Christmas” by Robert Longfield, with narration provided by Technical Director Doug Magnussen. The concert band will perform “Christmas Fanfares” by Todd Stalter, “The Child and the Kings” by Timothy Broege and “On This Day Earth Shall Ring” by Gustav Holst, arranged by Robert W. Smith. A finale featuring the choir and band will include “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson.
A special basket auction will also take place before the Dec. 3 concert begins and will conclude at the end of intermission. All proceeds will go to support the upcoming music education major trip to the All-State Music Conference in Peoria in January.
