Even though Illinois Rep. Amy Elik (R-Fosterburg) is running unopposed in the upcoming Republican primary, she has picked up another endorsement as her sights narrow on the General Election, where she faces a Democratic challenger.
In a Facebook post this week, Elik announced an endorsement from Madison County Republicans.
"Thank you to the Madison County Republicans for your endorsement vote!," she said in the post. "I'm honored to have your support! Please get out and vote in the Republican Primary Tuesday, or Early Vote this week."
The Madison County Republicans endorsement came a day after Elik announced in another Facebook post that she received an endorsement from the Illinois State Rifle Association Political Victory Fund. She thanked ISRA-PVF also and said the group "appreciates my loyalty to protect our 2nd Amendment rights in Illinois."
Elik has also received an endorsement from the Associated Firefighters of Illinois and Chicago Firefighters Union Local No. 2. She wrote about their endorsements on Facebook, where she stated, "these organizations recognize my steadfast support for our public servants in the fire service."
Last month, Elik encouraged her constituents to check their voter registration status to make sure they were all set to vote in the primary on June 28, a Metro East Sun report said.
