In a recent Facebook post, state Rep. David Friess (R-Red Bud) cheered about the 17th Street BBQ restaurant being in his new district.

"It is hard to complain about the boundaries of my new district since they drew 17th Street BBQ into my district," Friess said in the post. "Miki and I were in Murphysboro yesterday and had to stop in for some pulled pork. I am looking forward to representing the new 115th District."

Friess has been active on social media and in his community recently, commenting on a wide range of issues. He criticized Gov. JB Pritzker on the governor's latest executive order regarding monkeypox.

“After countless emergency declarations related to (coronavirus), the tyrant could not help himself,” Friess said on Facebook, quoted by the Metro East Sun.

He also spent time in Prairie du Rocher recently as the community commemorated its 300th anniversary.

"I want to thank Mayor Mark Wilson for allowing me to participate in Prairie du Rocher's 300th anniversary and Connie Stellhorn for showing us the Conner House," Friess posted on Facebook, quoted by the SW Illinois News. "It was good to see GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey and candidate for state treasurer Tom Demmer at the festivities."

In June, Friess joined state Sen. Terri Bryant (R-Dist. 58) in visiting the Baldwin Power Plant, the News said.
