The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Chapter of the State Universities Annuitants Association (SUAA) has announced Kaiden Hollerbach, of Collinsville, as a recipient of the SUAA Foundation Scholarship. Hollerbach is a first-year student in the School of Business.
“The SIUE Chapter of the SUAA is proud to grant this scholarship to Kaiden,” said John Jennetten, president of the SIUE SUAA Chapter. “He is the grandson of Cecilia ‘Maxine’ Bell, a member of our chapter. He is one of several recipients selected for this opportunity from a competitive statewide pool of nominees.”
The SUAA Foundation annually offers up to six scholarships, each valued at $1,000. The scholarships are awarded for use in accredited degree-seeking programs, eligible technical/trade programs, and eligible certificate programs. The applicant must be a SUAA member in good standing or the spouse/partner, child, or grandchild of a SUAA member in good standing.
“This scholarship means a lot to me due to the impact it will have on my education,” said Hollerbach. “When searching for colleges, my decision always came back to the numbers, and whether I was going to be able to afford further education. Since my mom was diagnosed with cancer, spare money hasn’t been the easiest to come by. This scholarship is important for continuing my education, because it takes some financial weight off of my family's shoulders.”
“I am truly excited and grateful about the opportunity to nominate Kaiden for this scholarship, and I am extremely thankful that SUAA Foundation found him worthy of this award,” said Bell.
“The Scholarship Committee was most impressed with the quality and depth of the applications from across the State,” said Nobby Emmanuel, SUAA scholarship committee member and vice president of the SIUE SUAA chapter. “The task of selecting from such a rich pool of candidates was, indeed, a challenge; nonetheless, the Committee was able to narrow the finalists and we were pleased to include Kaiden Hollerbach. In addition to his academic credentials, his recommendations spoke to his potential to be an excellent student.”
