With four falls and two technical falls, SIUE wrestling overpowered Lindenwood Sunday 47-0 at First Community Arena.

The Cougars picked up first-period pins from Caine Tyus at 157 pounds and Sergio Villalobos at 184 pounds as well as second-period pins from Saul Ervin at 141 pounds and Ryan Yarnell at 197 pounds.

"We talked about beforehand that we wrestle a lot of different competition," said SIUE Head Coach Jeremy Spates. "We have to come out and compete the same way against everybody."

Caleb Tyus recorded a technical fall at 149 pounds and fellow nationally-ranked wrestler Colton McKiernan closed out the dual meet with an 18-3 technical fall at heavyweight.

"We have been talking about bonus points," said Spates. "That's what helped us in get a good place at Midlands.

"We had a nice crowd," added Spates. "We had a lot of our alums, who are always great about supporting us."

SIUE is now 3-5 overall in dual meets and next heads to Kent State for a Mid-American Conference dual Friday in Kent, Ohio. The Cougars also face George Mason and Cleveland State next Saturday in Cleveland, Ohio.
