State Representative Charlie Meier recently participated in the 2024 Illinois Agriculture Legislative Day in Springfield. The event, organized by the Illinois Department of Agriculture, brought together various stakeholders from the agriculture sector. The day began with opening remarks by IDOA Director Jerry Costello II and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton.

During the event, several speakers addressed the audience, including Senator Dorris Turner, Representative Sonya Harper, and Representative Charles Meier himself. Additionally, youth leaders from the 4-H Leadership Team were present, with remarks from 4-H Leadership Team Chairman Ross Vancil of Henderson County included in the program.

The focus of the day was to allow attendees to engage with legislators and discuss the University of Illinois' efforts to support agriculture through the College of ACES and Illinois Extension programs, including 4-H Youth Development.

Representative Meier expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, "It's always a pleasure to meet with constituents and discuss the important work being done in the agriculture sector in Illinois."

The state of Illinois is recognized as a top producer of soybeans, corn, swine, and various specialty crops, making events like the Illinois Agriculture Legislative Day crucial for fostering collaboration and innovation in the industry.
