FOIA Request to City of O'Fallon Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In a bid to ensure transparency and accountability in local governmental affairs, we at Metro East Sun have submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of O'Fallon. The request, sent on October 30, 2024, seeks comprehensive details about both new and active residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till date.
Specifically, we are seeking information in the following fields for all new and active permits: type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the work is being done and contractor's name.
As a media organization dedicated to providing accurate news coverage on local government matters, access to such public records is essential for us. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request. We await a favorable response from the City of O'Fallon as we continue our mission of promoting transparency in governance.
