House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost expressed his views following the signing of the Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act into law by President Biden. The legislation, known as S. 141, was spearheaded in the House by Representative Juan Ciscomani from Arizona.
Chairman Bost emphasized the importance of prioritizing veterans over bureaucracy within the VA system. He stated, “The men and women who have served have earned access to a VA that puts them – not government bureaucracy – at the center of its operations. The Senator Elizabeth Dole 21st Century Veterans Healthcare and Benefits Improvement Act will do exactly that.”
Bost highlighted several key areas addressed by the act, including job training for transitioning servicemembers and veterans, mental health care improvements for caregivers, and enhanced healthcare options for both daily services and elderly care. He acknowledged over 40 organizations, including veteran service groups and stakeholders, for their efforts in advancing this legislation.
Looking ahead, Bost expressed his intention to collaborate with the Trump administration to ensure effective implementation of the Dole Act. “I look forward to working with the Trump administration to make sure that the Dole Act is implemented properly and quickly to meet its mission for veterans and their families,” he added.
