Sen. Harriss announces grants to support 56th District school libraries

State Senator Erica Harriss from Glen Carbon has announced the allocation of over $17,000 in state-funded library grants to public school libraries across the 56th Senate District. The funding aims to improve educational and research opportunities for students spanning from kindergarten to 12th grade.

"This funding is a direct investment in our students' academic success and personal growth," said Senator Harriss. "I’m glad to see this investment in our local schools, giving students access to the tools and technology they need to thrive in and beyond the classroom."

The Library Grant Program, managed by the Illinois Secretary of State’s office, is designed to enhance school library services. It provides financial support for resources such as books, e-books, and technology, along with educational initiatives.

The school districts benefiting from the funding within the 56th Senate District are:

- Alton CUSD 11 with $4,514.39

- Collinsville CUSD 10 with $3,145.29

- Edwardsville CUSD 7 with $2,360.30

- Granite City CUSD 9 with $2,924.04

- Madison CUSD 12 with $850.00

- Central School District 104 with $850.00

- Roxana CUD 1 with $1,360.25

- East Alton-Wood River CHSD 14 with $850.00

- Wood River-Hartford Elementary SD 15 with $850.00
