Representative Mike Bost, serving Illinois' 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, has been actively engaging with local leaders and communities. Bost, who succeeded Gerald Hawkins in Congress, focuses on addressing significant issues impacting the region. Raised in Murphysboro, Illinois, Bost has a rich history of public service including a tenure in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Jackson County Board.

On April 25, 2025, Bost tweeted about his meeting with Mayor Mark Lambird in Olney. During their discussion, they tackled the topic of unfair trade practices by foreign competitors and their adverse effects on farmers and rural communities. Bost stated he is striving in Congress to battle trade cheats, hold accountable those acting improperly, and advocate for American interests.

On April 26, 2025, Bost posted about his meeting with Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum to observe a demonstration of the HAAS Alert system. This technology, installed on their fleet, aims to reduce collisions by alerting nearby drivers to the presence of emergency vehicles in real-time, illustrating advancements in safety for emergency response.

Later the same day, Bost shared details of his visit to the Family Life Center in Effingham, a Christian nonprofit organization. He noted the center's mission to empower individuals and families by offering crucial support, education, and resources, particularly in areas related to pregnancy and parenting.

Born in 1960 in Murphysboro, Illinois, Bost currently resides there. A graduate of the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy, he brings experience and a dedication to his role in Congress, addressing essential issues for the 12th district.
