Rep. Mike Bost, who has been representing Illinois’ 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, recently shared insights from a series of visits and meetings through his tweets. These posts highlighted his ongoing engagements within Southern Illinois and his dialogues with constituents and local leaders. Bost, a long-time resident of Murphysboro, transitioned to Congress following a two-decade tenure in the Illinois House of Representatives.

On April 26, 2025, Rep. Bost mentioned on his social media that he had visited the Family Life Center in Effingham. He described it as "a Christian nonprofit dedicated to empowering individuals and families." The center is noted for its support, education, and resources aimed at addressing various issues faced by women, men, and families, particularly those related to pregnancy and parenting.

The following day, April 27, 2025, Bost detailed a meeting with local officials, including Mayor Josh Kuhl, County Chairman Jason Warfel, and Chamber Director Sarah Kinkade in Newton. He shared that they "talked about the current needs of the city and how we can work together to make sure Southern Illinois has the resources it needs to grow and thrive."

On April 28, 2025, Bost posted about his engagement with young students from Red Bud’s St. John’s Lutheran School. He recounted the experience of welcoming them to their capital city and expressed satisfaction in "answering questions from our future leaders," hoping their visit would be a memorable one.

A native of Murphysboro, Illinois, Rep. Bost graduated from the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy in 1993. His extensive political career began with the Jackson County Board before serving two decades in the Illinois House of Representatives.
