Rep. Mike Bost, a U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 12th district since 2015, has shared a series of tweets acknowledging various community contributions and achievements. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, in 1960, Bost has been an active figure in both state and national politics for several decades.

On May 6, 2025, Rep. Bost commemorated National Nurses Day by expressing gratitude to nursing professionals. He acknowledged their dedication to caring for the sick and vulnerable and shared a personal connection: "I know how special these folks are because I have nurses in my own family."

Later that day, he highlighted the Veterans Honor Flight program on social media. He described it as "remarkable," noting that it allows veterans to visit memorials dedicated to their service in Washington D.C., with the help of volunteers and supporters. Earlier that day, he had welcomed a group from Southern Illinois as part of this initiative: "If you haven’t heard of the Veterans Honor Flight program, it’s remarkable."

On May 7, 2025, Rep. Bost announced the runners-up for the Congressional Art Competition via his Twitter account. The selected individuals were Jianna, Zoie, Kennedy, and Aeilohni. He congratulated them on their impressive submissions and mentioned that winners were chosen by an independent panel comprising artists and teachers: "Congratulations to each of you for your very impressive submissions."

Mike Bost's career includes serving in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1995 to 2015 before joining Congress. Additionally, he served on the Jackson County Board from 1984 to 1988.
