Rep. Mike Bost, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois' 12th district, has begun a tour across Southern Illinois to highlight the recently enacted “One Big, Beautiful Bill.” The legislation, signed into law by President Trump on Independence Day, is intended to support working families, small businesses, farmers, and local communities.
On August 11, Bost announced the start of his tour with a post stating: "Today I'm kicking off a tour across Southern Illinois highlighting the benefits of the 'One Big, Beautiful Bill.' This landmark legislation, signed into law by President Trump on Independence Day, will help working families, small businesses, farmers, and local communities across".
Two days later on August 13, Bost provided an update from Jonesboro: "Started off my One Big, Beautiful Bill Tour in Jonesboro with Mayor Asa Busby, Sheriff David Wilkins, and State Rep. Paul Jacobs visiting local shops like Country Roads Flowers & Gifts and talking with small business owners about what the new law means for them. We've expanded".
Also on August 13, Bost addressed concerns about postal operations in his district following an independent audit of St. Louis postal processing: "The simmering frustrations of people in my district have been validated with today’s results of an independent audit of postal operations in St. Louis. Earlier this year, I appealed to the U.S. Postal Service for an audit of the St. Louis postal processing center because Southern".
Bost has served as representative since winning his first election in 2014 against William L. Enyart and has secured re-election through several cycles—defeating Charles Baricevic in 2016 (54.3% to 39.7%), Brendan Kelly in 2018 (51.6% to 45.4%), Raymond Lenzi in 2020 (60.4% to 39.7%), and Chip Markel in 2022 (75% to 25%).
