Born November 5: NFL tight end known for receiving

Kellen Winslow was born November 5, 1957, in East St. Louis, Illinois. He graduated from East St. Louis Senior High School. He played college football at the University of Missouri. In 1979, he was drafted in the first round by the San Diego Chargers. He played his entire NFL career with the team from 1979 to 1987. He was known for changing how tight ends played the game. He led all NFL tight ends in receptions during multiple seasons. He was selected to five Pro Bowls. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. Winslow later worked in college athletics and was named athletic director at Florida A&M University. East St. Louis marks his birth this week. His career helped shape the modern passing game.
