City of Belleville Electrical Commission met March 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:

Meeting called to order at 6:00 p.m. by Acting Chairman Mike Maxwell

The minutes of the last meeting in January were read and approved with the spelling Correction of "As Stated".

Inspectors Report

In the month of January there were 109 total inspections. Of the 109 inspections, 47 were housing inspections and 62 were other inspections. In the month of February there were 123 total inspections. Of the 123 inspections, 56 were housing inspections and 67 were other inspections. A ticket was issued at 2110 Meadow Lane for not having a license or a electrical permit. A letter was sent to Reinhold electric stating that they need to apply for a electrical license. Current Plus Electric was purchased by another company and now goes under the name of One Hour Electric. Electricians with Lane Valente Electric were caught at the Wal-Mart on Carlyle Avenue changing out a light ballast without a license or permit. They were given a warning ticket and ask to finish up the ballast replacement and exit the premise.

The commission reviewed a memorandum on the use of grounding electrode systems. A few comments and changes were brought up. The memorandum was tabled and will be further reviewed at a future commission meeting.

Old Business

Ray Page of Current Electric was questioned about some work being performed at the McDonalds across from the Belleville Fairgrounds. Ray explained that while he was at a doctor's appointment several non-licensed electricians did some work at the site without him knowing. He explained that they were with another company and not working under his license. The commission asked Ray to keep better control of the site and do not let it happen again.

New Business

Timothy Zapf appeared before the commission for an electrical license. The commission will sponsor Timothy Zapf to take the Thompson Prometric exam. Timothy Zapf must pay a $25.00 application fee within 30 calendar days from the commission meeting of March 27, 2017. This must be done prior to giving a Prometric test application. He was also advised that, by city ordinance, after showing proof of passing the exam, he must show proof of being an owner, partner or an officer for Hanenkamp Electric Co. He was also advised that if he does not pass the exam, he must show proof of further education before the commission will re-sponsor him for the exam. Timothy Zapf will have one year from the date of passing the Prometric exam to finalize all paperwork and receive his Belleville Electrical License. If the paperwork is not finalized within one year Timothy Zapf will have to re-apply for the electrical license. Robert Jones appeared before the commission for an electrical license. The commission will sponsor Robert Jones to take the Thompson Prometric exam. Robert Jones must pay a $25.00 application fee within 30 calendar days from the Commission meeting of March 27, 2017. This must be done prior to giving a Prometric test application. He was also advised that, by city ordinance, after showing proof of passing the exam, he must show proof of being an owner, partner or an officer for C. A. Jones. He was also advised that if he does not pass the exam, he must show proof of further education before the commission will re-sponsor him for the exam. Robert Jones will have one year from the date of passing the Prometric exam to finalize all paperwork and receive his Belleville Electrical License. If the paperwork is not finalized within one year Robert Jones will have to re-apply for the electrical license. Chad Rainwater appeared before the commission for an electrical license. The commission will sponsor Chad Rainwater to take the Thompson Prometric exam. Chad Rainwater must pay a $25.00 application fee within 30 calendar days from the commission meeting of March 27, 2017. This must be done prior to giving a Prometric test application. He was also advised that, by city ordinance, after showing proof of passing the exam, he must show proof of being an owner, partner or an officer for A & H Mechanical. He was also advised that if he does not pass the exam, he must show proof of further education before the commission will re-sponsor him for the exam. Chad Rainwater will have one year from the date of passing the Prometric exam to finalize all paperwork and receive his Belleville Electrical License. If the paperwork is not finalized within one year Chad Rainwater will have to re-apply for the electrical license. Thomas O'Hara appeared before the commission for an electrical license. The commission will sponsor Thomas O'Hara to take the Thompson Prometric exam. Thomas O'Hara must pay a $25.00 application fee within 30 calendar days from the commission meeting of March 27, 2017. This must be done prior to giving a Prometric test application. He was also advised that, by city ordinance, after showing proof of passing the exam, he must show proof of being an owner, partner or an officer for Guarantee Electrical. He was also advised that if he does not pass the exam, he must show proof of further education before the commission will re-sponsor him for the exam. Thomas O'Hara will have one year from the date of passing the Prometric exam to finalize all paperwork and receive his Belleville Electrical License. If the paperwork is not finalized within one year Thomas O'Hara will have to re-apply for the electrical license.

o Sabrina Westfall - J.West Electrical Contracting appeared before the commission but did not have sufficient documentation to be approved for sponsorship by the commission to take his exam. She was told to bring in a letter from Webster University stating she was an Electrician and two additional W-2. The commission would then sponsor her for a license.

o Christopher Garofalo of PayneCrest Electric Inc. did not show up at the commission meeting.

o Steve Houska of Taurus Electric did not show up at the commission meeting.

o A motion was made to put together a standard set of questions to ask candidates applying for an electrical license.

The next meeting will be held on April 24, 2017 at 6:00 p.m.
