The William and Florence Schmidt Art Center at Southwestern Illinois College is displaying the works of St. Louis and Midwest artists from Jan. 18 through Feb. 23.
The opening of the exhibition will include a public reception featuring artists' talks from 4 to 7 p.m. Jan. 18 at the center, 2500 Carlyle Ave. in Belleville, a release posted on the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce website said.
"This exhibition offers area residents a unique view of both hand-made and mass-produced views of natural objects and the human form ranging from drawings of flowers to macabre carnival chalkware,” Schmidt Curator Nicole Dutton said in the release.
Works from Ann Scheumbauer, Mark Appling Fisher, Lyuboy Briginets, and Lawton Parker will be on display at the art center, the release said
