Christopher Belt led Republican Tanya Hildenbrand in votes cast in Belleville Township for the District 57 state Senate race, according to the latest vote count.
Belt appeared to outpace Hildenbrand by a margin of 15.1 percent on Tuesday in the township.
In comparison, the 2014 winner, Republican Ruocco Katherine, won by a margin of 8.9 percent in that jurisdiction, beating Democrat Clayborne, Jr., II, who received 5,236 votes to Katherine's 6,254.
