Q2 2019 Recap: Parolees near Illinois zip code 62002 convicted of sex crimes

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole near Illinois zip code 62002 during the second quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the Metro East Sun.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in 62002 were men. Of these parolees, one is a veteran. The younger parolee was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2018. The other was a 51-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Randall W. Barnes Jr. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2018 when he was 29 years old. He is now 31.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below shows the 50 zips in Illinois with the most paroled offenders in the second quarter who were convicted of sex crimes.
