City of Jerseyville City Council met June 29.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The Jerseyville City Council held their regular meeting at the Jerseyville City Hall at 6:00 p.m. via teleconference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The public was invited to attend by calling the teleconference phone number.

ROLL CALL: Present were Commissioners Nick Bexheti, Steve Pohlman, Zach Crawford and Mayor William Russell. Comm. Kevin Stork was absent. City Attorney William Strang was also present.

Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the minutes from the meeting held Tuesday, June 15, 2021. Roll call vote showed all vote aye, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Bexheti, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve the bills as presented for June 29, 2021, in the amount of $1,078,197.59. Roll call vote showed all present voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

A motion was made by Comm. Bexheti, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to approve the reappointment of Marcia Adams, Matt Derrick, and Laura Wedding to the Board of Trustees of the Library for a term of July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2024. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Under new business, Director of Building and Zoning, Jeff Soer mentioned to the Council the upgraded East Prairie parking lot has been full of customer parking since it was recently opened. Mayor Russell announced the ladder truck recently purchased for the Fire Department is now here. Chief Norman confirmed the truck does fit in the firehouse and will be going to Banner Fire for some cosmetic work with Brinlee Mountain paying for repairs. Chief Norman is hoping to have ready for upcoming fair parade.

No public comment.

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Bexheti, to go into closed session to discuss personnel/collective bargaining. Roll call vote showed all ayes, no nays, motion carried.

From closed session, a motion was made by Comm. Bexheti, seconded by Comm. Crawford to approve the collective bargaining agreement between the City of Jerseyville and Policeman’s Benevolent Labor Committee for a period beginning July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2025. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

Being no further business to be discussed, a motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Crawford, to adjourn. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
