In an Oct. 15 Facebook post, Sen. Terri Bryant revealed her participation in a religious fundraiser. In the June 28, 2022 election, Bryant ran unopposed in her attempt to represent the Illinois citizens of District 58.
According to Child Evangelism Fellowship, the group provides an array of ministry efforts directed towards youths. The three main ministries of the organization are the Good News Club, the 5-Day Club and the Truth Chasers Club.
"Fundraiser tonight for Child Evangelism Fellowship" Senator Bryant said in the post to her official Facebook account. "This organization hosts the Good News Clubs at many of our local schools. It’s like taking Sunday School to the public schools, after school. Changing lives for Jesus!"
CEF Online says that Child Evangelism Fellowship was started in 1937, by Jesse Irvin Overholtzer. The organization has 16 chapters in the northeast area of Illinois. The organization says on its website that it is "Bible centered" with 2,900 international missionaries, 700 workers in the United States and 40,000 volunteers. Their website says that Good News Club is taught in 16 public schools around the nation and they also use their website to host a correspondence based Bible course for children all around the country.
