The data shows 261 men and 26 women were released in St. Clair County. Of the parolees, 12 were veterans, and the median age was 38. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2021, and the oldest was a 75-year-old man convicted of homicide in 2017.
The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Joseph L. Cunningham. He was convicted in 1978 when he was 18 years old. He is now 63.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
