City of Jerseyville City Council met March 5

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Mayor Kevin Stork called the regular session of the Jerseyville City Council to order Tuesday, March 5th at the Feyerabend Building beginning at 6:00 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present were Commissioners Steve Pohlman, Anthony Steckel, and Mayor Stork. Commissioners Zachary Crawford and John Miles were absent. City Attorney William Strang was absent. City Clerk Denise Hayes took minutes. 

Comm. Pohlman led the opening prayer and pledge of allegiance was recited.

MINUTES

A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Steckel, to approve the minutes from the regular meeting held Tuesday, February 20, 2024. All voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

BILLS

A motion was made by Comm. Steckel, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve the bills as presented for March 5, 2024, in the amount of $556,597.57. Comm. Steckel noted this payout included invoice from Jun Construction for City Hall. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

A. A motion was made by Comm. Steckel, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to approve a tourism grant request for Steve Pegram of Got Faith? in the amount of $3,000.00. Mr. Pegram was present at the meeting and spoke to the Council of his upcoming events which include the 500 Men Breakfast where Tim Ezel will be present, Got Faith? Weekend, and various Santa travels. Mr. Pegram had requested a grant request of $5,000.00 on his application. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

B. A motion was made by Comm. Pohlman, seconded by Comm. Steckel, to approve a resolution declaring March 18th as Trisomy 18 Awareness Day. Mayor Stork read resolution. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.

OTHER BUSINESS

Mayor Stork announced the following: Registration is now being held for TBall, pitching machine, and 10u-14u baseball/softball and if interested registration can be done at the Recreation office at Mound Street, print registration form from JCUSD 100 virtual backpack, or online at www.signupville.com and as part of the upcoming solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th, a limited supply of ISO certified eclipse glasses will be available at City Hall if anyone is interested in stopping by to pick up a pair.

Chief Norman announced CJ Miles has resigned in good standing from the Fire Department.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

ADJOURNMENT: Being no other business to be discussed, a motion was made by Comm. Steckel, seconded by Comm. Pohlman, to adjourn the meeting at 6:13 p.m. Roll call vote showed all voted aye, no nays, motion carried.
