On April 19, 2025, he addressed economic concerns by recalling, "Southern Illinois families remember what it was like under the Biden administration — skyrocketing energy bills, unreliable grids, and over $1,700 more a year just to keep the lights on. Under President Trump we will restore American energy independence. We’ll get it done through." Bost contrasts previous and current administration policies, suggesting a return to a previous federal stance on energy independence could alleviate current economic pressures.

Mike Bost, who has a background in public service extending from local government as a member of the Jackson County Board to state and federal legislative bodies, remains active in representing the interests of his district. Born in Murphysboro, Illinois, Bost has practical experience in areas such as firefighting, evidenced by his graduation from the University of Illinois' Certified Firefighter II Academy.
